All new build properties and conversions which were built after this date require 10% of each party wall/floor construction type to be tested. Sound Testing is to be carried out between pairs of rooms separated by party walls or floors. In most cases the rooms to be sound tested will be the two main habitable rooms which would be living rooms and bedrooms.
The sound test procedure involves setting up a noise source in a room on one side of the party wall or floor and measuring the noise on both sides of the partition. Using the latest equipment we are able to confirm that sound insulation standards have been met for both airborne and impact noise under the new Part 9 Regulations of the Building Bye Laws (Jersey) 2007.
We can give you the result of the sound insulation test same day of testing and we are happy to liaise direct with your BCO in order that they get the right information to sign off your building.
What if it fails?
Sound Test failures to a project can prove costly in relation to both financial and programme aspects of the project. Successful Sound Tests stem from an attention to detail at an early stage in the Design and Construction Processes. This is something we at Aura take very seriously.
